Throwback Celebrity's StepUp - Olamide Acquires Fuel Station, Ice Prince Has A Record Label, Choc City Reunites, Lil Kesh’s New Ride…+ Many More Inside

Sharp Businessman! Olamide Acquires Fuel Station

Forget what you see on his Instagram page, rapper Olamide aka daddymiliano is a businessman to the core.
If the news making the rounds is anything to go by, the Awon goons mi crooner is the owner of the popular Rain oil filling station located at Ladilak bus stop, Bariga, Lagos. Though we haven’t confirmed yet, sources have it that Olamide indeed owns this station which happens to be in the area he grew up . He supposedly came about this station after adhering to caution from his mother to reduce his lavish spending and invest more.
Not to forget, the YBNL boss launched his own clothing line Baddo Unlimited urban clothing in January with a range of T-shirts sold on Nigerian retail giants Konga and Jumia sites. Guess the rapper is taking his mothers advice seriously.
Lets hope other celebrities are also investing their money wisely and not just flaunting it on social media.

Something’s Cooking… Looks Like Davido, Meek Mill & Sesan!

REVIEW: ‘Dorosh*t’ Was The Mavins’ Performance At The AMVCAs

I won’t spare them the venom in my tongue on this one because when you’re arguably the biggest label in Africa, you do not come out looking like a bunch of total flukes in an elaborate mock-show of what was the biggest record of the entire Nigerian entertainment since it’s inception.
The recently concluded AMVCA had a couple pitfalls and by a stroke of happenstance, the Mavins’ and their whatchamommacallit performance of Dorobucci happened to be atop the list.
OMG x 7!!!
It was drab, it was dreary, witheringly scornful, awfully uninspiring and pretty much forgettable. The organizers of the show should have allowed everyone a pee break or a 5-minute recess in it’s place. Reekado Banks was prancing up and down the stage like a horse on ecstasy locked up in a paddock, Korede Bello was busy attempting the electric slide in his own world of utopia, D’Prince looked like a typical conformist who still couldn’t comprehend what was going on, Di’Ja was either peeved by everyone being in her space or was finding a way to give them their space and Don Jazzy (as a boss man) perhaps didn’t give a flying fvck about anything. All he prolly knew was that they got paid for that bxtch afterall.
Sigh. The beauty of a song resonates when you effectively communicate the innate feelings, desires and motivation behind waxing a record in a manner that is entertaining to a live audience. And on more than one occasion, the Mavins have failed to deliver. First, it was the official video. Everything was wrong with it and even Reeky Banks’ dance improvisation couldn’t save the four minutes and forty-one seconds of our lives that had been wasted watching it. Next, was the commissioning of the Akwa Ibom State Stadium. They literally just showed up in almost angelic costumes to dance and push their hands up in the air while a backing track played. That was no performance my people. There was also that ‘Road to MAMAs’ thang that reeked of nothing but excess energy only and now, this scathing seloquesence at the AMVCA.
It’s one thing to be a musician, I mean almost any and everybody can… going by the doctrines upon which our industry was founded. Then it’s totally another to be a performer. Not just anybody can, which is why in an industry like ours, you don’t need the voice of a Praiz to become the next Davido. So when artistes that we idolize come out to deliver in such precipitate manner, it tells enough about the perspective in which they view themselves and their fans. It’s only here that our stars behave irrationally and are patted on the back as they get away with it. This recurring feat has obviously eaten deep into the kankerfabrics of our Nigerian music as every aspiring musician is in a hasty wait to buy a set of gold blings and a Range Rover so they can thump hard on the renal of anyone who poses a ‘hater-threat’ to them with Instagram and Twitter being the only weapons in their new positions of power. It is very very unacceptable, and they’re not even Chris Brown!
In other unrelated news, can someone please do something about Korede and Ayoleyi’s looks? They’re members of a dynasty (that even has supreme as part of it’s prefix), they’re like a revolutionary movement! Korede shouldn’t always come out looking like he’s been dressed in costumes that were picked out from the funeral closet of Michael Jackson and as for Ayoleyi… Ifeanyi Nwune to the rescue, PLEASE! Dencia too, maybe?

Reekado Banks Explains The Mavins’ Sh*tty Performance At The AMVCAs

First to break the silence on the tension that brewed from their dismal performance at the recently concluded AMVCA, is Reekado Banks of the Supreme Mavin Dynasty. Speaking with an associate at Pulse NG on why their performance failed to excite fans and other guests, he faulted some reasons being the absence of the performing parties as well as their inability to rehearse prior to the eventual performance.
Hear him:
“The only time we got to put something together was that day.At the sound check it was just me, Di’ja and Korede that were available. D’prince travelled and was coming back that day. Jazzy was not available too.”
“At the soundcheck, the camera men were like please when the other people come, help us tell them that you guys should stay together because of the camera, you are doing this not for the show but for the tv. we tried as much as possible to stay together but when…we were trying to follow their script. so it wasn’t entirely our fault.”
“We tried to balance between our art and the script but the song isn’t 10 minutes it was about 4 minutes or something, so yeah we were just trying to obey the camera men. for further shows we’ll just get more time to practice.”
He tendered an apology to this effect while promising the Mavin fans that other performances will be carefully put together.

Ice Prince Launches Self-Owned Record Label – Super Cool Cats

Just like his mentor, M.I. Abaga who is signed to Chocolate City and also label owner for Loopy Musik, rap entertainer Panshak Zamani aka Ice Prince has unveiled his self-owned record label with an official announcement scheduled for a later date.
The label, Super Cool Cats has always been Ice’s dream and has now materialized into fruition. Speaking with MTV UK last year, the rapper said…
“There’s Super Cool Cats music, my new outfit, and I have a few artists that I want to introduce to the world. There’s a girl called Ruth and a guy called Stunt. They’re all super cool cats. And there are a lot of producers in that outfit as well.”
While Stunt just released his debut single ‘Ojukokoro’, Chocolate City CEO, Audu Maikori has expressed his excitement about the growth of his label acts. He further and quite clearly too that Ice Prince will not encounter any challenges associated with his Chocolate City dealings and that of managing his record label. Instead, he pledged to continue their show of support. Hear him.
“We are very happy with it, there’s no friction between both labels.” Audu told Hip TV. “Ice Prince also has Super Cool Cats, which is his new imprint and it’s coming out soon, one of the things Choc City set out to do is to be the mother body and create that platform for others to grow and we have encouraged that actively by supporting their projects.”

Burying The Hatchet! Brymo Appreciates Entire Chocolate City Team And More Others…

Brymo-New-Photos
Fe Mi crooner, Brymo is in very jolly spirit as he took to Twitter baring his really deep and sincere heart of gratitude to all who have brought him thus far and been a contributing factor to the success that he is today.
Using the hashtag “BrymoRemembers” he’s not in a hurry to forget M.I. Abaga, Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz and the rest of the Chocolate City team regardless of the rift he suffered upon his exit from their record label. There’s also Denrele, Joke his first manager, Legendury Beatz, Suka Sounds, the general media and of course his teeming fans!

A Choc City reunion on the way?

Reports have it that 2015 will most likely see the amalgamation of all Chocolate City record label artistes both past and present, in celebration of the music label’s 10th year anniversary.
According to lawyer/label executive Audu Maikori, the anniversary might come with a surprise re-union of artistes who have parted ways with the label (Jesse Jagz and Brymo) and those who remain (MI, Ice Prince, Victoria Kimani, Dice Ailes, Nosa and Pryse). Audu was asked in a recent interview with HipTV if a re-union is in possible and he said:
‘Break ups and estrangements in this industry is nothing new and what is important is the essence of what brought us together which is music and as long as it is music, there would always be that togetherness. Let’s wait, there may be a few surprises very soon.

Women You Should Know Why Angelina Jolie Had Her Ovaries Removed

Angelina Jolie, an American actress, filmmaker, and humanitarian, has had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed after doctors detected possible early signs of cancer.
The actress carries a mutation in the BRCA1 gene, which gave her a 50% risk of developing ovarian cancer. Her mother, grandmother and aunt all died of the disease. In 2013 Angelina underwent a double mastectomy after learning she had an estimated 87 per cent chance of developing breast cancer. And now two years later, she has had both ovaries and fallopian tubes removed. These preventive steps greatly decrease her lifetime risk of cancer.
In the article, titled Angelina Jolie Pitt: Diary of a Surgery, she said a blood test revealed “a number” of elevated inflammatory markers that could be a sign of early cancer, and was told to see a surgeon immediately. “I went through what I imagine thousands of other women have felt. I told myself to stay calm, to be strong, and that I had no reason to think I wouldn’t live to see my children grow up and to meet my grandchildren.
I called my husband in France, who was on a plane within hours. The beautiful thing about such moments in life is that there is so much clarity. You know what you live for and what matters. It is polarizing, and it is peaceful.”  The 39-year-old insisted that her choice was the right one for her, but not necessarily for everyone, saying: “There is more than one way to deal with any health issue. The most important thing is to learn about the options and choose what is right for you personally.
It is not possible to remove all risk, and the fact is I remain prone to cancer. I will look for natural ways to strengthen my immune system. I feel feminine, and grounded in the choices I am making for myself and my family. I know my children will never have to say, “Mom died of ovarian cancer. I will not be able to have any more children, and I expect some physical changes. But I feel at ease with whatever will come, not because I am strong but because this is a part of life. It is nothing to be feared.”
After Jolie revealed news of her mastectomy in 2013 there was a dramatic increase in the number of women referred for genetic testing. Cancer charities are already welcoming her decision to open up about her latest surgery, anticipating a new wave of the so-called ‘Angelina effect’. Ovarian Cancer Action’s Katherine Taylor said: “If women know they have BRCA gene mutations, they can choose to take action before cancer develops, much like Angelina has. Her bravery to announce this news publicly could save lives.”
